Sun Oven

Many of you know I like to follow some food blogs. Not too long ago I won a membership to Deals to Meals website that lists all the local deals for groceries each week and which is the best deal and also compares them to Walmart and Costco, etc. They also include recipes using items that are on sale that week. I also follow the Deals to Meals blog which offers great food storage information and recipes. I was able to get the information I needed to start our very first garden. The Deals to Meals blog had everything I needed to know about building a square foot garden. Gardening intimidates me, so this was very helpful and our garden is actually growing, which is very exciting for us. My son goes out to the garden frequently to report what is happening. He excitedly came to me this morning to inform me that he can see zucchini and cucumbers growing. I have also learned how to grind beans and use them in substitution for flour in baking as well as substituting bean puree for fat or oil.

It has been very exciting to learn more about being self reliant and more prepared from Deals to Meals. If you haven't heard of this blog or website, I highly recommend them. Currently, they are running a contest to win a Global Sun Oven, hence the title of my post. I have read about sun ovens and seen them before. I've wanted one for a while. It would be the perfect addition to my family's preparedness inventory as well as saving on electricity for cooking. I figure what better state to have a sun oven than TX, especially this year with the drought. What I liked about the sun oven before we moved here though was that you can use it in all types of weather. You could stick it out there in the middle of winter and use it as long as the day wasn't too cloudy. I love that this particular sun oven also comes with a built in thermometer, which was one of my concerns when researching this product earlier. I'm so excited about this product and it is on my Christmas wish list, birthday, anniversary, Valentines, St. Patrick's Day, Easter...whatever holiday, you get the picture. I've already informed my husband this is what I want! Anyway, until we can afford one, I'm entering the contest by posting this blog about this fabulous website, blog, and product!
